Imagine approaching a kiosk and being greeted by Paola, an AI-powered avatar that offers spot-on wine recommendations for any occasion. Whether you're looking for the perfect wine to pair with pasta carbonara (pancetta or guanciale?), Paola provides the most human-like interaction, using natural language to offer personalized suggestions. You can converse with her using your voice (or via chat, if you prefer), making the experience intuitive and natural. Paola can also connect to stock systems, CRM, or trigger processes to enhance operational efficiency, showcasing the limitless potential of AI integration.
As a member of the AIE Innovation Lab at Capgemini Brazil, I played a crucial role in the creation, development, and testing of Paola, an AI-powered multiplatform sommelière for one of Brazil’s largest supermarket chains, a leader in wine sales. Our team embarked on this journey to push the boundaries of AI experimentation and innovation. Through interviews, workshops, and detailed user journey mapping, we gained a deep understanding of user needs and desired features, allowing us to create a roadmap for developing an MVP with clear future steps for the technology.
Before launching on the mobile app, we developed an MVP to test in stores. This MVP consisted of a kiosk where Paola, trained in a secure environment, acted as a seamless orchestrator between text-to-speech technology and client data, such as store availability. To pitch the concept to executives, we translated our user journey maps into an engaging user journey video. Now, Paola is running in beta on their app, demonstrating how AI can revolutionize the wine shopping experience. Working on this project has been an exciting journey, blending creativity with cutting-edge technology to make wine selection a delightful experience.
